Real map colors, 3 shades
Matches the game's own map colors and their light, normal and dark shades, so the map in your hands looks like the preview.
Free Minecraft build tool
Turn any image into Minecraft map art. It uses the game's real map colors with 3-shade staircase building, dithering and a full material list, for one map or up to 4×4. Everything runs in your browser.
One-map Java Edition build
Matches the game's own map colors and their light, normal and dark shades, so the map in your hands looks like the preview.
Build a single 128×128 map or a wall of up to 4×4 maps (512×512 blocks) with seamless shading between maps.
Download .schem for WorldEdit, .litematic for Litematica or .mcfunction for a data pack, plus a material list with stacks.
Map art generator guide
Upload an image, choose how many maps wide and tall, and pick flat or staircase. Flat is one layer of blocks with one shade per color. Staircase raises and lowers blocks so every color can be light, normal or dark, which triples the colors and gives far more detail. Dithering blends colors to hide banding.
Download the schematic and paste it with its north-west corner at X = 128n − 64, Z = 128m − 65, then use an empty map inside each 128×128 square to scan it. The first row of the file is a reference line that sets the shade of the first row of colors.
A filled map paints each block with its map color, a fixed color for each block type, in one of three shades depending on whether the block is higher than, level with or lower than the block to its north. Map art arranges blocks so those colors form a picture.
Flat uses one shade per color and a single layer, so it is the easiest to build. Staircase uses all three shades by changing block height, which gives about three times the colors and looks much better for photos, but it needs a 3D build up to the height you choose.
Use the Survival color set, which avoids ore blocks, TNT and ice. Collect the stacks from the material list, build a row at a time and keep the area above the art clear. Wool is cheapest; concrete looks cleaner.
Maps cover 128×128 squares whose north-west corners are at X = 128n − 64 and Z = 128m − 64. Paste the schematic one block north of that corner, because its first row is the reference line, then use an empty map while standing inside each square.
No. Conversion, the 3D preview, the exports and the material list all run in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
Not yet. The files are for Java Edition: .schem, .litematic and .mcfunction.
